Player Responsibility

The opportunity to go to school, train and compete under the umbrella of
the International Christian Tennis Association is a privilege.

Therefore, all athletes/students must maintain the highest standards of personal behavior and ethics in all related activities and relationships both on and off the court and in classes.

Athletes/students are expected to abide by a set of guidelines and responsibilities that are conducive to the development of an optimal-learning and high-performance training environment and Christian behavior, morals, and ethics.

GENERAL ICTA GUIDELINES

Overall, complying with the guidelines and responsibilities set forth by ICTA is established in the best interest of the entire group of athletes/students.

On-court responsibilities:

Players are expected to:

  • Give 100% effort at all times.
  • Run for every ball.
  • Listen to the coach (eye contact, stand still).
  • Bring all necessary equipment: water bottle, skipping rope, journal, jogging shoes, tennis shoes, solar cream, tennis rackets, extra T-shirts, etc.
  • Behave properly. Here is a list of unacceptable behavior:
    • Any form of racket abuse.
    • Cursing in any language.
    • Yelling in such a way as to disturb play on the neighboring courts.
    • Hitting balls over the fence regardless of their condition.
(Players will be asked to retrieve them).
    • Demeaning of any practice partners.
  • Chewing gum is forbidden on the court, in fitness sessions and in classes.
  • Be punctual to all your daily activities.

: Athletes' responsibilities when competing/touring :

Prior to departure, ensure that

  • All documentation is in proper order (passport/visas).
  • Adequate tennis attire is packed.
  • Proper medical insurance has been purchased, if necessary.
  • You have an adequate supply of money for the entire tour or have made arrangements to access extra funds from your personal account.

While on tour:

  • Be prompt and attend all ICTA meetings.
  • Be familiar with all the rules of the tournament.
  • Participate in a daily fitness maintenance program as set by ICTA.
  • Participate in daily preparation of pre- and post-match routines:
    • Warm-up off court, on court, plus stretching routines.
    • Match plans.
    • Pre- and post-match talk with the coach.
  • Sign in for singles and doubles events at the appropriate time.
  • Find a doubles partner unless arranged by ICTA.
  • Maintain a proper diet.
  • Look after your equipment needs, including such services as racket stringing.
  • Keep a diary of the tour in your training log book (what you did, your results, match report, etc.).
  • Ensure that you thank the organizing committee and sponsors at the completion of every event.

Academic school responsibilities

Students are expected to:

  • Demonstrate self-discipline, self-reliance and a genuine commitment to learning.
  • Attend all classes, fully prepared for the days' learning activities.
  • Make a consistent effort to learn and achieve to his or her potential.

Academic - Required Minimum

Each student is required to maintain a minimum of a "B" or better in each of their academic classes in order to be eligible for ICTA related activities such as tournament play and related travels; week and weekend privileges (movies, mall, etc.); and or any other extracurricular activities.

In addition, each student who does not meet the required minimum or that meets the minimum but has a "C", must attend mandatory study hall at the designated times during each week.

These guidelines were established to maintain the same high standard of performance in school that we expect from our students on the tennis court during camps.

However, ICTA reserves the right to use its own discretion in the implementation of any disciplinary action.

Housing and off-court responsibilities

  • Respect each other's space. Players are not allowed to enter other student's area without authorization.
  • Share all household responsibilities as set by ICTA guidelines.
  • It is the athlete's responsibility to follow a proper diet throughout the year. "Proper" is defined as a diet that provides the appropriate balance of nutrients and calories necessary to maintain a high-performance competitive and training schedule.
  • Behave at all times in an appropriate manner when in public places, in the ICTA facilities and when traveling.
  • All players will be required to do daily chores such as making their beds each morning, cleaning the kitchen & bathrooms, taking out trash, etc.

  Personal Belongings

We, at ICTA, work hard to create a comfortable, secure and safe living environment for each of our students.

However, with the travel schedules of our students and the "in" and "out" traffic of roommates and campers, it is difficult to account for each student's personal items.

Therefore, it must be understood that any personal items that are brought and stored in ICTA facilities are the responsibility of the individual who brings them. Further, it should be noted that upon any departure (short term or extended) students should take the necessary steps to secure any of their personal items that they feel may be at risk. They are welcome to box and seal these items and store them in their apartment or at ICTA if necessary.

Important items such as passports, I-20's, airline tickets, large amount of cash, etc. can be stored temporarily with us in the Academy safe or in a personal account.

    Disciplinary Actions

All violations of the rules and regulations will constitute disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the Academy Director and staff.

Consistent violation of any rules and regulations could constitute permanent dismissal from the academy. ICTA reserves the right to dismiss any player and/or their parent at our disgresion for any reason.

Meet Mark! I’ve coached Mark since 2006. He is competing on the Palm Beach Atlantic University’s tennis team. Mark was born in Mexico. His parents are US citizens live in Mexico full time as Christian missionaries.  Today was a great 4 hr workout on the clay. We focused on improving Mark’s backhand return of serve, and helping him to become more aggressive on his serve.

Glad to introduce you to Tyra and Ali!

At 13 years of age, Ali is considered by some to be the world’s top female 14 & Under junior tennis player.  Her Mom and Dad have done a GREAT job developing/coaching her.  I'm not sure if she is the world's best, as China and Russia have some incredible kids her age, but I can see Ali developing into a top 200 WTA player by 16 years of age. Tyra is Ali’s sister. She is 10 years of age showing the same potential! Wonderful for God to lead them to spend time hanging out and training with us. I look forward sharing more about them with you in the coming months as we see what God has planned in their lives!!

God bless!  Coach Scotty

International Christian Tennis Association Men’s Pro Tennis Team journeyed to Chile on a Christian outreach to two ITF Men’s Futures pro tournaments. Mark (red shorts), who I’ve coached for 5+ years and whose parents are full time missionaries in Mexico, planned and organized the outreach. The guys did a fine job and gained much valuable experience that they will carry for a lifetime. Mark begins his college tennis career in September, and plans to have a Christian medical ministry an Internal Medicine doctor.
