Parent Responsibilities

At ICTA, we believe that parents play a vital role in the overall development and success of their child. Without your support, encouragement and caring, young athletes will often not persevere through all the difficulties and hard times.  We have established a set of general guidelines to ensure that the player's development is optimized as we care to develop a solid and healthy relationship between yourself and the ICTA.

THE GUIDELINES ARE:

  • Parent visits are encouraged, but are only allowed when scheduled with ICTA.  As ICTA is a ministry, not a tennis academy, roving parents are not allowed.  Parents who refuse to abide by our guidelines will be asked to leave, the player may be asked to leave as well, and no refund will be given.
  • Parents must agree to the tennis and leadership training and competitive plans as set by the ICTA. Any changes to the plan must be received prior to approval.
  • While visiting the ICTA camps facilities, parents are required to stay outside the tennis courts during practices unless given permission by the staff. As well, please avoid giving coaching advice during training periods.
  • If traveling to a tournament, encourage your child for as much player independence as possible by giving the ICTA coaching staff authority on all competitive matters.
  • When watching your child play a match, learn ways to project positive feelings from the sidelines. If parents cannot be positive, optimistic and encouraging during matches, they should stay away. The only exception to this rule is if your child's behavior has become unacceptable in terms of cheating, temper or negativism. In such cases, it is important that you play an active role, projecting disapproval.
  • Try not to get too excited when your child wins, or too upset if he/she looses.
  • We encourage parents to communicate with us on an ongoing basis. The ideal time period to call the ICTA coaching staff is during lunch time, between noon and 1 p.m. EST.

Release Agreement

  • the player's death, suffered during or in any way connected with the player's participation in the International Christian Tennis Academy program; and

2. Hereby waive any such action, claim or demand and covenant not to sue therefore.

This agreement is binding on your heirs and personal representatives. The International Christian Tennis Association  Information Guide is offered strictly for informational purposes and is subject to change without any prior notice. The Guide is not intended to be a binding contract between the International Christian Tennis Association and its athletes/students or their families or any other party.

Meet Mark! I’ve coached Mark since 2006. He is competing on the Palm Beach Atlantic University’s tennis team. Mark was born in Mexico. His parents are US citizens live in Mexico full time as Christian missionaries.  Today was a great 4 hr workout on the clay. We focused on improving Mark’s backhand return of serve, and helping him to become more aggressive on his serve.

Glad to introduce you to Tyra and Ali!

At 13 years of age, Ali is considered by some to be the world’s top female 14 & Under junior tennis player.  Her Mom and Dad have done a GREAT job developing/coaching her.  I'm not sure if she is the world's best, as China and Russia have some incredible kids her age, but I can see Ali developing into a top 200 WTA player by 16 years of age. Tyra is Ali’s sister. She is 10 years of age showing the same potential! Wonderful for God to lead them to spend time hanging out and training with us. I look forward sharing more about them with you in the coming months as we see what God has planned in their lives!!

God bless!  Coach Scotty

International Christian Tennis Association Men’s Pro Tennis Team journeyed to Chile on a Christian outreach to two ITF Men’s Futures pro tournaments. Mark (red shorts), who I’ve coached for 5+ years and whose parents are full time missionaries in Mexico, planned and organized the outreach. The guys did a fine job and gained much valuable experience that they will carry for a lifetime. Mark begins his college tennis career in September, and plans to have a Christian medical ministry an Internal Medicine doctor.
